About this Coffee

Established in the 1960s by New Zealander Ben Colbran, Baroida Estate was among the first to plant coffee in PNG’s Eastern Highlands. Today, Ben’s son Nichol runs the farm, raising the bar on quality every step of the way.

The estate is named after a local spirit said to live in a stubborn river rock that has sat unmoved in the middle of the river for generations. Floods come and go, but the rock stays put.

In 2017, Nichol planted 22,200 Geisha trees, with the first washed lot landing in 2021. It was a hit. Now, he’s growing thousands more seedlings to ramp up production. From these trees comes a washed espresso with classic fruity, floral, and tea-like notes. PNG Geisha at its finest.
