About this Coffee

The Gachatha Farmers Cooperative Society was formed back in 1962 and is located along the slopes of the Aberdare mountain range. It operates as one of the most well-established wet mills in the Nyeri region. The region has deep, fertile, well-drained red volcanic soils which are ideal for coffee production. The Co-op, handpicks ripe cherries and delivers them daily to the wet mill during the harvest season, where they are hand-sorted ensuring only the ripest cherries pass through the mill. Not only does the coffee taste delicious, but Gachatha also passes on 90% of the payment to their farmers, versus the requisite 80% that you’ll commonly find across the region.
