About this Coffee
Masha Washing Station has made a name for itself with its standout Red Bourbon — a coffee variety prized for its natural sweetness, balance and complexity. The name “Masha” comes from amasho — Kirundi for “herds of cattle” — a nod to the region’s roaming livestock and herders. Grown on small backyard plots, cherries are picked by hand and delivered to Masha, where they’re floated, sorted, pulped within hours, and slow-dried on raised beds.
Roasted for filter, this coffee packs a sweet punch of blackcurrant and candy-like flavours, with a lime acidity and delicate body. We’ll raise (and fill) our mugs to that.

Tasting Notes
The Golden Ratio
We recommend a ratio of 60g of freshly ground coffee for every litre of water. This is a good place to start, but you can fine-tune your recipe to suit your taste. You'll find some suggested brewing ratios of hot water to ground coffee for you to use below.
