First introduced around WWII, the then called, ‘Military Mug’, was well suited to the needs of mobile military forces. Not long after every G.I. and Marine was touting one, its popularity spread to everywhere that served coffee on America’s East Coast. It didn’t take long for these trusty mugs to become synonymous with diner coffee culture, leading them to take on their new name: ‘the diner mug’.
